Schwing America has announced a new concrete pump that provides the most articulation of any boom in its class and combines that versatility with the smallest outrigger footprint. The new S 55 SX reaches 178-feet and sets up with a 29’2” front outrigger spread to maximize that boom reach.
The exceptional articulation is provided by the RZ5 boom design which offers 990-degrees of total movement at its five folding points. Two significant features of the boom are the 180-degree folding main section that allows the operator to angle the main section away from the pour and insert the remaining four sections deep into building decks. The other excusive feature is the 270-degree Z fold tip section that gives the operator unlimited choices when placing in challenging situations. The boom incorporates a 370-degree slewing range and carries 112 mm Super 3000 pipeline.
The new machine also incorporates Schwing’s exclusive Super X Outriggers® that set-up fast and provide a compact and stable platform for pumping. These one piece curved front outriggers telescope out and around obstacles without extending past the truck’s front bumper allowing placement of the pump as close to the pour area as possible.
The Standard Schwing Vector Control system is the only system that can match the versatility of the RZ5 boom. Twin joysticks provide proportional boom control for pin-point accuracy. In addition, Vector is also the only system providing two-way communication between the pump and operator. An LED display on the remote box informs the operator of operational conditions, including: hydraulic pressure; PTO rpm; strokes per minute; hydraulic oil temperature and hopper grate status. Control functions from the remote box include: engine rpm and start/stop; pump delivery rate; pump forward/reverse and boom speed. The Vector System also records critical data that tracks yards per hour to more accurately schedule maintenance and extend machine life.
The Generation 3 concrete pump is the low-maintenance, 213 cubic yard per hour, long-lasting high performance unit that provides long slow-stroking action. This is the highest output concrete pump operating with the fewest strokes. The all-hydraulic design utilizes the Schwing Big Rock Valve™, promoting maximum filling efficiency of the material cylinders even with harsh mixes. Schwing’s fuel efficient open circuit design provides continuous hydraulic oil flow for, superior filtration and better cooling.
Schwing’s Rear Steer, an option on the S 55 SX, reduces the outside turning radius to an industry leading 56’ 3”. In addition, having the rearmost axle drive and steer is critical when backing out of jobsites. The SRS is a mechanically linked, hydraulically assisted solution that has no limits to the speed at which it works.
