Jim Kirkwood, owner and founder of Statewide Concrete Pumping, Columbus Ohio, was honored with the Thomas Anderson Lifetime Achievement Award at the Schwing dealer meeting held in Las Vegas in conjunction with World of Concrete 2009. The award was inaugurated in 2006 to honor outstanding contributors to Schwing America and the concrete pumping industry. The award was inspired by longtime president of Schwing America Tom Anderson whose retirement from the company prompted Gerhard Schwing to conceive the award. It is not an annual award but presented to select individuals at Schwing’s discretion.
In presenting the award, Brian Hazelton, said, “Jim is a true leader who has never let obstacles get in his way and Jim has always demanded as much from himself as he ever did from others.” In 2000 Jim was recognized by his peers as an ACPA Pioneer Award Recipient. Kirkwood who attended the first World of Concrete in 1974 is also widely known as a mentor to many concrete pumpers in Ohio.

Jim Kirkwood’s name will join previous recipients of the award on a display at Schwing America, Inc.’s headquarters in White Bear, Minnesota.
