Mack mDRIVE Transmission Available on Schwing Boom Pumps
Customers ordering the proven Mack Granite conventional chassis for their Schwing boom pump will now have a choice with the mDRIVE transmission as optional equipment. The automated Mack mDrive 12, 13 & 14-speed, two-pedal manual transmission eliminates gear-shifting so drivers can focus on the driving task for more productive operation.
The mDRIVE integrates with Mack MP7 and MP8 engines offering up to 1,860 ft.lbs, of torque and 505 horsepower. The new transmission continuously monitors grades, speed, acceleration, torque demand and weight so there is no compromise in performance. An added benefit is weight savings over other automatic transmissions.
Additional features of the mDRIVE, include: Grade Gripper that keeps the truck in position for up to three seconds after the brake pedal is released; Rock Free rocks the vehicle back and forth if the truck gets stuck; and Power Launch that releases the truck from sand and loose soil by raising engine RPM and torque prior to engaging drive mode.
Mack conventional chassis are popular on Schwing boom pumps that need extra axles to meet federal bridge laws. The new transmission will be available on the popular Mack TerraPro Cabover chassis in the future. For more information contact Schwing.
